I wrote this back in February 2023 when I was flying West to Nevada. Today I fly East but was reminded of this little poem I’d written. It was a busy week so I didn’t get a chance to write a full piece but I hope you enjoy this time capsule:
One of the pleasures of life is setting our mind free with the help from the window seat of a plane.
In the skies we travel back in time. As we soar west we travel to a place where the sun hasn’t yet risen and day hasn’t begun. Where I come from the sun has already shined its early golden drops. But to where I go, the sky is still dotted with stars.
Where I go the day is still ripe for picking. It is full of potential and creation. Where I have been the day already begun, already a tone set.
As we travel to a place a couple hours behind, that means hours gained. It’s a time warp. A chance to begin the day twice, something that does not often happen. Almost like two sunrises within a couple hours of each other.
If you want to speed up time, go east. If you want to slow it down, go west.
Tell me again time travel isn’t possible. Because from the window of a plane soaring across the atmosphere, it is.
Love that! A few days ago I took a picture quite similar to yours!
On a flight from Orlando to Atlantic City. The only difference being that
the tip of the Spirit Airlines wing greets
passengers with a jaunty, “Howdy”! Way cute!
